Who we are
Indi is a record-keeping tool for Australian sole traders and ABN holders. It is currently in early access and free to use. Indi is not accounting software, does not provide tax advice, and does not process payments.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile information Google shares with us.
- Business details you enter — your ABN, GST status, work type and financial year preference.
- Records you create — income entries, expenses, business-use percentages, invoices, client names and email addresses you add to invoices, and recurring cost prompts.
- Files you upload — receipt images and documents you attach to expenses.
- Feedback you send — the message, category and optional email address you submit through the in-app feedback form.
Indi does not connect to bank feeds, does not import transactions from your bank, and never asks for banking logins or card details.
How we use it
We use your information to run the app for you: to store and display your records, calculate totals and your Tax Pack readiness, generate invoices and exports, keep your account secure, and respond to feedback or support requests. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Where your data is stored
When you are signed in, your records are stored in Indi's hosted database and file storage, not only on your device. Access is restricted so that each account can only read and write its own records. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. If you use the public demo without signing in, that sample data stays in your browser.
Service providers
We rely on third-party providers to host the app, store your data, run authentication and deliver email. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms, and may store data outside Australia. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that authentication step.
When you share a Tax Pack
Creating a share link for your accountant stores a read-only summary of your totals, category breakdown and readiness score against your account. Anyone with the link can view that summary until it expires (30 days) or you revoke it. Receipts and invoice client details are not included in the shared summary. Share links are not indexed by search engines. Revoke a link at any time from the Tax Pack page.
Your choices
- Export your records to CSV at any time from the profile menu.
- Edit or delete individual records, receipts and invoices as you go.
- Clear all of your records in one action from the profile menu.
- Delete your account entirely — this permanently removes your records, receipt files, share links, profile and login. It cannot be undone.
- Turn on two-factor authentication from Sign-in & security.
How long we keep it
We keep your records for as long as your account is open, because tax record-keeping usually spans several years. When you delete your account, your records, uploaded files and login are removed. Backups held by our hosting provider may persist for a short period before rotating out.
Children
Indi is intended for adults running a business under an ABN.
Changes to this policy
Indi is in early access and this policy may change as the product develops. We will update the date at the top of this page when it does.
Contact us
To ask a question, request a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, contact us at hello@indi-io.com or use the Feedback button inside the app.
Indi organises your records and is not tax, legal or financial advice. Confirm what you can claim with your accountant, a registered tax agent, or the ATO.
